Microsoft offers buyouts to a quarter of its workforce
The Ankler’s Sean McNulty reports that Microsoft is making voluntary buyout offers to 25% of its workforce, about 60,000 people, who have to decide their futures by early December, with a prior buyout round yielding only a 30% acceptance rate.
Why it matters. If too few employees accept the buyouts, Microsoft’s next lever for cutting costs to fund AI spending will be involuntary layoffs.
