Meta to strip advertisers of placement exclusion controls

ExchangeWire reports that Meta is removing the ability to exclude specific placements, devices, or platforms from ad sets, notifying advertisers in-platform. Marketers will no longer opt out of formats like Facebook search or Reels in-stream, or restrict delivery to one device type.

Why it matters. Advertisers lose a longstanding brand-safety and control lever, ceding placement decisions entirely to Meta’s automated delivery systems.
