Nielsen rolls out currency methodology upgrades ahead of new TV season

Advanced Television reports that Nielsen is updating Big Data + Panel currency with seven fixes, including co-viewing via wearables, refreshed universe estimates, and improved Hispanic methodology. Changes take effect August 31 under MRC oversight, timed before the new broadcast season begins.

Why it matters. Buyers and sellers negotiating upfront and scatter deals this fall will be pricing against a new ratings baseline rather than a like-for-like comparison to last season.
